Let's Look At Organic Traffic

Organic traffic or free traffic is very simple to explain, but a bit harder to implement. Organic traffic comes from the search engines, other sites that link back to your site and from direct access via other online and offline methods. While organic traffic is usually thought of as search engine traffic, as you can see, it can come from other sources as well.

In the interest of simplicity, this post will center around how to get a steady flow of visitors from the search engines. There is tons of material out there about how to get the search engines to recognize and love your site. However, while there's plenty of opinions, what I've found to work for me consistently is onpage SEO.

What Is On Page SEO?

Very simply, if you are running a site about search engine traffic, for instace, then you want to let popele know that is what you're about. The search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing and others) are actually a gigantic database of sites categorized by words and phrases from the various sites. You can use something called meta tags (which is a serious of words and phrases that search engines use) that are specific to what you're website or blog is about.

For instance, if your blog is about goldfish, then the first meta tag would logically be "goldfish" and not "golf clubs". Another would be fish, "goldfish supplies, goldfish tank, goldfish food, etc. The search engine would then list your site under these words and when somebody search for goldfish supplies, your site would be in the group of results that the search engine returned.

In addition to meta tags, your articles and posts should also reflect your niche. If your site is about goldfish, you should have quality content about the subject of fish/goldfish as well. For every 100 words or so, you should have your keyword or keyword phrase, and it should also appear in the title of your post, and in the beginning and end of the post. This tells the search engines that your site really is about goldfish and will list you higher in the results pages.

If it was that easy, everyone would have tons of traffic, but those are the basic of getting free traffic aka search engine or organic traffic to your site. There are other factors that need to be considered when it comes to getting listed, which I will go into in future posts.

Getting Traffic To Your Website

You have just finished designing what you think is the perfect website on a topic that you think is important to the Internet community. You have written articles, gathered resources, put up links to relevant references on the web. Your site has photos, videos, articles and commentary. In your opinion, it's a work of art, a masterpiece of form and function that's guaranteed to inform and delight.

Week 1: You check your stats. You have gotten seven visitors to your website, and you are pretty sure that covers your immediate family and a couple loyal friends who would visit any site you put up.

Week 2: You check your stats. It's a great website. People are going to love it. You went out to dinner and talked it up with the restaurant staff. You conveyed your excitement once again to your family. You have gotten five new visitors . . . . probably the waitress, because you inisted she write down the url of your site, the restaurant manager who stayed for less than 30 seconds, your two brothers (because they told you on the phone that they stopped by again), and of course, your mom.

Week 3: You check your stats. 11 unique visitors and Mom and Dad, but he doesn't count because they're on the same computer.

Week 4: You check your stats. 22 unique visitors of which you see a couple are 'bots and not human.

What Do You Do Now?

You've got a great website, fantastic information and presentation and you've gotten less than 50 visitors in a month.

Does this sound familiar? Can you relate? And, what do you do to change this scenario? It is actually easier than you might think. No matter how fabulous your website might be, it's nothing without visitors otherwise known as traffic. There are two types of traffic you can get on the web - paid traffic and organic traffic.

Paid traffic is exactly what it sounds like: you pay someone and they send you visitors. Organic traffic comes from the search engines and costs you nothing. In my next post, I will be going into the ups and downs of paid versus organic traffic and some tips on what it takes to be successful using both.

Free traffic for you in 2 steps

Here is one great site where you can leave your advert. With a little effort of about 5-10 minutes you could get huge traffic.. even if you don't want to spend much time on it, you could get at least decent sum of traffic just for registering and leaving this method in two or three signatures on forum.

It is worth to try..

Before you can register you must view 6 sites available to you and you will get 6 codes, one from each site -- then you input those codes and you can register and fill your details. After you have registered your site will be show on first place and other people wanted to register will have to click on your site, that's first 6 visits. After that your site is placed on second place and their is on first.

You must consider fact that visits will rise exponentially, not linear and that's what I am looking for but first I need to build a little downline of two or three persons..

As you can see, this can be very good method for traffic but you need to find few people interested in such free traffic. I personally think that every way to get free traffic can be good depending on how much you want to promote it or put your efforts on it.

Care2 - interesting website for publishing own stories

While I was surfing a web I found this great website - Care2

I was always wondering if there is some site like this and now I found it. Care2 is like Zimbio where you can publish your articles and read them from other people but here is one difference - Care2 has much more options.

How? Well, whenever you publish new story you get points and whatever you do on the website you get the points. I must say that those points don't have money meaning so you can not get paid via points but what you could is to redeem rewards from Care2 sponsors. This concept looks great to me and in followin days I will try it.

This is not a reason why I am publishing this article here. Main reason is what? Traffic and backlinks :)
By publishing your stories you could get traffic to your website andnot any kind of traffic but targeted traffic since your stories will read people who are interested in your topic.

It is not necessary to register to read articles and explore the web so you are free to do it if you find this interested as a one way to get more backlinks and targeted traffic.

Twiends.com is very interesting website. You make there an account, in few steps, it's very easy and then you can connect your account toyour twitter or facebook account or to your website. After you have done connecting twitter or facebook account you can start collecting your points.

What are those points? Well, every time you follow someone on twitter or like on facebook or visit someone's website you get points.

How much points per view? It can be from 1 to 10, depending on how much points every single person is offering to others for pageview/tweet/like.

It is easy, isn't it?

In my case, I use this great website to gain more likes on my Planethopia facebook page and I collect points by following interesting people on twitter.

Here is another way to gain some backlinks and more traffic to one of your sites. Submitting your websites to directory listings you show other people your site, leaving them link and short description of your website or blog. Websites directories often have many subcategories so you are able to choose appropriate category for your website and that is good way to easily find other related websites if you want to left some comment on them.

How to submit sitemap to Google webmaster tools

You have created new blog and waiting for google bot to crawl and index your pages? It can take days, maybe weeks for bot to crawl through your page so it would be wise to submit your sitemap manually. Go to your google webmaster tools, then undes drop down Site configuration you can follow link to Sitemaps.

After that you just click on submit a sitemap and your site url will be shown, waiting for you to enter path to sitemap, something like this: "http://youblog.blogspot.com/" and then you can enter rest of the path.
For blogspot accounts it is little bit unclear where is your sitemap, and if you don't have any plugins you want guess it. Here's a little trick, if my blog URL is http://traffic-4-you.blogspot.com/ then my sitemap is here http://traffic-4-you.blogspot.com/atom.xml so you must enter atom.xml in box and then click Submit sitemap. Wait for minute, two and then refresh your page to check status of sitemap. After that you have done it and under URLs Submitted will be shown number of your posts.

Blogrankings is another interesting blog/website directory where you can track your site/blog statistics after you submit your blog or site. It is interesting because it automatically pings your blogs so you don't need to add articles manually, once you register there your job is over. Only thing you have to do after registering is adding your site(s) and placing their badge on your site. They will give you a code, it is very simple task. I like this site, it gives me a ranking among other submitted sites - always nice to know how other people and readers respond to your articles.
